Wasps at the WAGM - Day 1
It's been a fantastic day in warm but blustery conditions on Hastings seafront. Steve really has excelled and is pushing a 30.25 average to lie just nine shots off the lead. Nuno also finds himself on the same score with both men looking for a final push to challenge for unlikely podium finishes. Andy once again has been consistent and finds himself on 32, impressively only dropping one shot. Paul is also on for a personal best on 32.75, with just a few unfortunate bounce out preventing him from being up at the cut. I am proud with the way everyone has performed as our little club goes from strength to strength. Together, we are better.
Wasps at the WAGM - Day 2
With an early start, the competitors were raring to go. Paul was out first determined to get his average below 33 and that's just what he did with his sixth perfect shot out of six at the 17th for a finishing position of 32nd. Andy also broke his best tournament average and was amongst one of the most consistent performers of the competition, ending up 28th, and shot off being level 32's. I am also immensely proud of both Paul and Andy for volunteering during the last two rounds to carry the scoreboards for the top groups, giving them a fantastic experience of how the worlds best players putt.
Nuno made sure Portugal would be represented in the super 18 round and played some of best mini golf in the final two laps of the course, getting himself up to 41 under par for joint 10th. Steve had a brilliant day one and the question remained as to whether he could maintain that form. He opened with a new competition personal best of 28 on the biggest stage and by the end, reached 9th in his international debut, shooting a level 30 and just 10 shots behind the great Martin Stoeckle of Germany.
The Wasps once again proved what a talented and selfless club they are and we once again made a positive impact on a tournament. Below is a link for all the photographs from the weekend.
