On a dry Sunday morning, the Wasps converged onto the final Midlands Open on the 12 hole course at Dorridge. In a few months time, the course will be succeeded with a brand new 18-hole Adventure Golf course designed by Harris Adventure Golf.
With a current Wasps course record of 23, the aim was to finish high and break the Wasps course record.
26 players began the event and with only Andy and Steve having played the course before in a competition, the challenge was finishing with a creditable score considering the 1570 Order of Merit points available which is the highest so far in the 2016 ranking season. Twelve of the GB Top 16 ranked players (18 out of the Top 32) were playing in the tournament.

Round 4 scores (round position)
Nuno 21 (1st), Steve 24 (9th), Paul 26 (16th), Andy 31 (21st), Quinn 36 (26th)
Steve tied for third place with Chris Wood and was in the third place play-off. Both players aced Hole 1 but Steve won with a 2 on Hole 2 to take third place. Chris Wood continues his fine form from winning the Cup Cake Open at the beginning of the year.
Nuno put in an exceptional performance not only having played the course for the first time and finishing runner-up but also having to put up with Paul's chat in the journey up from Sussex very early on a Sunday morning.
Paul flattered to deceive again with a disappointing 17th place, a couple of bad holes in Round 3 put pay to his challenge but again this was his first tournament at the course.
Andy had a drop in form in the final round but based on previous performances this year will bounce back quickly and will be challenging again.
Quinn avoided finishing last and is still learning the game in only his fifth BMGA event. A couple of aces and finishing third in the Junior Category kept his spirits alive.
With a couple of the higher ranked players missing from the event, the Wasps still continue to progress upwards in the 2016 Order of Merit. While still to be confirmed, Wasps occupy places 2 to 4 in the ranking list with Nuno, Steve and Andy sitting comfortably in those positions. Paul remains in 8th with one shot costing him a career high 7th place. Quinn continues to climb the rankings picking up 50 points every tournament and moves into the Top 80.
