Report from Captain - Steve 'Sheila' Lovell
Very proud of how the Wasps played this weekend, with four out of five Wasps improving their average from the British Open last year. Once again, congratulations to Michael Smith for another mindboggling score and to Adam Kelly and Will Donnelly for just sticking at it. Nuno Cunha was 4th and has set the course record in a competition of 28 for a Wasp at the Pirate Course. Nuno also dropped just ONE shot the whole tournament.
Steve Lovell came joint 13th after an unconvincing day one, although with a strong finish, he will take confidence before his British debut at the WAGM in three weeks.
Andy Wilde was just sensational, also coming joint 13th, proving he has truly arrived. Back to back 29's was just incredible.
Paul Preston was once again solid for joint 20th and performed at a level which I knew he was capable of.
Birthday boy Derek Bentall was amazingly consistent throughout, achieving 23rd place and set a personal best of 31 while beating a Great Britain squad member.
To cap it all off, we had a lovely meal in White's in the Old Town and discovered a marvellous drinking hole called The Jenny Lind.
